Same Great Mirror, All New Mount

The new Doubletake system is more attractive, more durable and easier to install and use than ever. The Doubletake Base Kit includes bolts to thread into every application, without the need for adapters.

DOUBLETAKE BASE KIT:

  • Universal: Different bikes require different threads, so Doubletake wanted to make a single base that works with any bike. To accomplish that, they have decided to make the ball a little bigger, and use a standard M10 socket-head bolt. Multiple bolts are included with every kit to eliminate unsightly adapters and allow any kit to fit any bike.
  • Won’t Crush: The ball has a large diameter aluminum core with a thin coating of high quality nitrile, so it stays round even under extended compression and keeps steady pressure on the arm, which avoids movement at either end of the system.
  • Won’t Spin: There’s nothing worse than having your mirror pirouette in tough terrain. To fix this, Doubletake has included a lock washer that secures the ball in relation to the bike.
  • Larger size: The Doubletake ball is 1.125 inches, and even that small increase in diameter makes a big difference in rigidity—all else being equal, this joint is 42% stiffer than a 1 inch ball. This means you don’t have to over tighten the arm to keep it from moving while riding.

DOUBLETAKE ARM: 3.5 inches (90mm) OR 6.0 inch (150mm):

  • Radial Ridges: The clamping surface at the base has radial ridges to hold the ball more securely. These ridges prevent the arm from unintentionally rotating relative to the base, but without mechanical interference that could be damaged under impact.
  • Asymmetrical Clamping: Because the ball diameters are different, the clamp is located off center toward the mirror. The larger base diameter creates more stiffness on the bottom, and the offset clamp grips the mirror tighter to equalize rigidity. The whole system has been engineered together to keep the mirror from moving, except when it has to in an impact.
  • Longer Thumb Nut: The low profile thumb nut is 25% longer than others on the market. No need to strain to keep your mirror adjusted right where you want it.
  • New Lengths: The previous arms measured 73mm and 123mm center to center, and the new arms measure 90mm and 150mm. These slight increases in length are important to functionality—the shorter version is optimized for aggressive riders on smaller bikes, the longer one gives a great view to the rear, on bigger bikes and around luggage.
  • Streamlined Design: Doubletake wanted the look of the mirror assembly to be sleek and purposeful, to go with the bikes they mount on. These arms accomplish that with a raised backbone to give stiffness without adding bulk.
  • Compatible: Mirror end 1” socket works with any 1” ball accessory (GPS, camera, etc). 1.125” base only compatible with our oversized ball.

RIGIDITY

New 'no-crush ball' technology means the mirror does not require frequent adjustment, while still pivoting out of harm’s way in the event of an impact. Achieved by a new aluminum core construction with a Nitrile Coating.

STRENGTH

New asymmetrical arm and large diameter ball base (1.125"), combined with a longer and lower profile thumb nut, means you won’t have to crank down so much to keep the mirror in place.

UNIVERSAL

The newly designed universal ball (which features a hollow core surrounded by aluminum) that allows bolts to pass through the base; The end result being easy fitment for every application & ending the need for expensive and unattractive adapters.

IMPROVED ARM OFFERINGS

The new Doubletake 6 inch arm is longer than anything else on the market, for great visibility on bikes loaded with luggage. And the new Doubletake 3.5 inch arm is perfect for aggressive riders — just long enough to see, but still small enough to tuck away.
